Quality mescal is not easy to find in the lucky country. I had said I was going to be writing about the refined cousin of mescal this November, but the news that great mescal will be available in Australia is worth braeaking into regular programming for.
About 14 months ago, I was lucky enough to try Ilegal at the Bar Awards dinner. I was fantastic and I quickly devoured much of what I could get my hands on. In a nasty twist of cruel fate, it was the last taste I got to have.
Things however, seem about to change, with Ilegal announcing that Sa’pere Drinks are set to import the smokily sumptuous spirit from January next year. Sa’pere also import Citadelle, that mad French gin the fantastic Plantation rum collection.
Can’t wait for the new year.
